The one constant in social media platforms is that things are always changing. Over the past few months, Facebook and Instagram have released their upcoming 2019 updates. Let’s look at what you need to know for your business to dominate social media.

Shopping via Instagram Stories
Users can create more interactive and engaging content with Instagram’s newest feature. “Product stickers” (small shopping bag icon) will be available for users to place on their photo/videos. These stickers will allow viewers to get product details and more information.

IGTV
What are your thoughts on IGTV? Despite its slowly growing popularity, Instagram isn't giving up on the concept, which showcases vertical video playback created for mobile users. In the past few months statistics have shown an increase in use from influencer marketing professionals. “If you’re still not on IGTV, it’s time to hop on the train,” said Plannable ’s Vlad Callus. “When thinking about the upcoming trends in Instagram marketing I believe IGTV and Instagram Stories are on the top of the list. IGTV will become the new YouTube in three to five years, and if you’re joining now, you will catch the big wave.”

Augmented Reality Ads
This feature, which allows users to virtually “try on/test out” a product is coming to Facebook in 2019. A sunglasses company, for instance, could use augmented reality ads to showcase different styles on sunglasses on its own users using the phone camera. “These ads look like normal in-feed ads at first, but they include a “Tap to try it on” option, which opens up the AR capabilities. And of course if you like the way it looks in AR, you can go ahead and buy the product” (Techcrunch.com).

Live Video
It's no secret live video streams have been wildly successful since their birth in 2016. Don't let your brand be late to the live video stream! Don’t know what to stream? Here are some ideas: Going live for a Q&A answering user questions, demonstrate how to use a particular product, go BTS at a special event your business is at. This tool is a fantastic way to engage with followers, so take advantage!
TIP* On Instagram live stories, make sure to “save” the video so users are able to view it outside of the “live window”.

Using this information, you can now start building out your social media strategy for the new year - good luck babes!
